Review of Tirol Mix 8 Chocolate Candy Pack

Here's a video review for my first taste of Tirol Chocolates.

I'm a new fan of Tirol chocolates! A product and company I'd never even heard of before my choco-buying venture. It's touted as being a cheap affordable candy in Japan (like a penny candy is in the US) But for cheap, Tirol manages to deliver some quality chocolate! Having said that, I'm not a fan of all the flavors I've sampled. But that's about personal preference, not so much knocking the quality or taste of the candy. The chocolate isn't as sweet as say a Hershey's but more like that of a box of Sees chocolates. Maybe it's to better pair with the fillings, and apparently Tirol chocolates ALWAYS come with some type of filling. Normally I don't like a mixed box of chocolates, since it is true, "you never know what you're gonna get" and inevitably some of it, (a great deal of it if you're picky or unlucky) will not be to you're liking. I don't know if you can just buy a single flavor of Tirol, from what I've seen it's only sold in a variety pack, so if anyone knows, please share. Although, I suppose you need to try them all at first to see which ones you like. And there's more out there that I haven't tried...yet. But it's definitely a new fav. for me.

 Bought this pack from "napajapan.com"
which is currently unavailable, but they do have a new "Mix 9" pack up as well as other varieties. I also bought just the caramel chocolate sold in 4's from them. HIGHLY recommend buying that one. You can also buy a 27 piece Tirol variety bag from marukaiestore.com but their shipping is crazy expensive especially for just one or 2 items!

First Candy Review; Meiji Almond Crunch with Kameda Kaki no Tane & Melty Kiss Extra Gianduja

Here I look at 2 offerings from Meiji, as well as a little nod to the first Tirol chocolate I've ever tried. (review for that coming up next post)  Here's a hint....it won't be my last one! ^_^

Check out my video review then check out pics below.

Meiji  Almond Crunch with Kameda Kaki no Tane
The funky looking candy with a bold flavor!
This is a very interesting candy. It was really hard for me to place the taste and texture of what it reminded me of, but it finally dawned on me there's something akin to Butterfinger bars about it with it's extremely crunchy texture and flavor. But with a hint of spiciness.
It does grow on you, the taste that is. Which seems to be forever changing as you eat it. First all I got was the hit of spice, next piece was very cocoa tasting. By the 4th piece is when the total peanut-buttery taste started to kick in. It has very deep flavors that are complex. It's not sweet tasting, instead it has a richness about it that reminds me of a peanut-butter and chocolate type candy.
I'll definitely be back for more, before they pull them off the market.

Kinda looks like a pack of dino eggs. ^_^

 Meiji Melty Kiss
(Extra Gianduja aka Hazelnut Flavor)

I LOVE Melty Kiss, but I didn't love this version of them. After tasting it, I can see why there weren't too many places carrying them. The flavor which is hazelnut is just too light. And I didn't detect any cocoa powder on the outside of them, which is a Melty Kiss trademark. Not really anything else to say here, other than to skip this version, which shouldn't be too hard, I doubt they'll be selling these again next season.

Both items in this review were special requests fulfilled for me by David who's an ebay seller based in Japan. So you can contact him to see about buying some yourself. Here is a link to his ebay page; http://www.ebay.com/sch/hirokojapan/m.html

My once in a lifetime Candy haul! ^_^

A single continuous look at the candy haul of dreams!

My expression of love for Japan candy.
(I must apologize though for my mistake with the letter "j" in the word "Japan", what can I say, it was nearly 2AM and I was dog-tired so gomenasai to the good and hopefully understanding people of Japan.) ^_^
